Energy: BioHyst, a new technology for biomass presented at ENEA

The Hyst technology which allows the production of second generation biofuels on an industrial level, was presented at ENEA. The system, marketed by BioHyst, can transform the residual biomass from agriculture (straw, wood, and vegetable waste in general) and the agri-food industry waste (olive cake, grape mark, orange waste, etc..) into easily hydrolysable and fermentable matrixes, with extremely reduced power consumption and costs, and without any environmental impact. Dr. Vito Pignatelli, head of the Group for Vegetable Systems for Industrial Products at ENEA, has stressed the importance of the results obtained, which will eventually lead to the development of fuel industry from lignocellulose.
